Paris III

We spent our final day in Paris touring Versailles and then hitting up the other places in the city that we had wanted to see. It was another cloudy and cold day in Versailles ... and SO crowded.

Growing up, we were always able to tour or take vacations on the "off-season", so I'm not used to sight-seeing with large crowds. I hate them. Hate them. I usually feel like I should get a discount because I wasn't able to see everything I wanted to see to the fullest for all the throngs of others pushing and shoving to get to see. Thankfully, I'd been to Versailles before but I felt badly for my sweet husband who wanted to take pictures of everything and had to resort to lifting the camera above his head (there's one advantage of being tall!) to get a shot of what he was wanting. Ugh. Crowds.

Taking the train down to Versailles. My boy smiles at anything. :)
How could you not love that little face?!?!

The Palace of Versailles ... grandeur at its best.
I can't even begin to fathom what it would be like to live in a place where even door handles are a work of art.
The famous Hall of Mirrors
A cold, tired, foot-sore little family. Jackie and Scott opted out of the house and went to see a chateau that's located on the property while Kace, Bennett and I toured the house. I carried Bennett so Kc would be free to take pictures and look as long as he wanted to during our tour.
I am the epitome of fashion. (Sheesh. Do I not look like your typical tourist?!?! I'm so ashamed. :))
The Gardens at Versailles. Kc and his dad walked around the gardens while his mom sat with me, to hold an umbrella over my head and shield me and Bennett from the cold wind while I nursed him sitting on some random steps.
Since it was a Sunday in June, they were running the water fountains at certain times of the day.

Upon arriving in the city, I was absolutely famished and we ended up eating at a Mc'D's, simply because it was right there and we didn't have to wait long for food. I needed something right away or else ....

We ate near the Arc de Triomphe and our museum pass that we'd purchased included going up to the top, something I'd never done before. It was cool and I'm glad we were able to see it.
The view from the top of the Arc de Triomphe
"I'm cold. My feet hurt. My back hurts from carrying the baby all day. I'm hungry again. Is it time for a crepe and tea yet???"
As I was in line with the rest of the family, getting ready to climb up these stairs, an employee saw me with the baby and ushered me to their elevators to use instead of having to climb. Woo hoo!

We hightailed it over to the Sacre Coeur, our last stop for our whirlwind trip to Paris.
Once again, Jackie and I opted out of the climb and sat in the cafe that sits at the bottom of the hill so I could feed the baby in a relative quiet place and we both ordered crepes to snack on.

I love this picture. It totally looks to me like he's telling his grandma a secret!! :)
Sucking on his thumb. He was SUCH a trooper of a baby. It's hard to be 3 months old and have to ride in a baby carrier for hours on end. Each night when we got back, he'd just kick kick kick his little legs in sheer joy - precious!
Papa and Mama Myers ... our traveling companions!

We flew out of CDG early on Monday morning ... and were back at their house by 11:30 am! Not a bad gig, if you ask me. Scott even went to work for the remainder of the day! Ha! I loved being able to say, "Oh yes, we spent the weekend in Paris. No biggee." :) On a side note, I wonder who our littlest first-born Myers man is going to resemble someday? On occasion, his daddy gets "You look like Hugh Grant" and his grandpa gets "You look like George Clooney". Is there another leading male actor look-alike in our fam? Who knows!

Oh Megan! How much fun it is reliving those special memories we made this summer. I couldn't help but think when I saw KC, dad and B and your comment about being an actor look-alike, that someday people might just say, "wow, you look like Bennett Myers!" :)
