This was one of the few places that I very much wanted to see when coming to England. In the new movie of Pride and Prejudice, this was the home of Mr. Darcy ... and it's BEAUTIFUL!!!!
We picked an absolutely perfect day to go -- the sky was blue, the temperatures warm, the sun was out, nice breeze -- absolutely perfect. Jackie suggested taking a picnic lunch to eat on the grounds and I'm so glad we did! We sat along the backside of the gardens, overlooking the Cascade water feature, and soaked in the amazing beauty and weather!
The interior of the house was breathtaking. It has been owned by the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire since the mid-1500's. We could've spent hours upon hours in there -- there was just SO much to see!
After our tour of the house, we quickly toured the gardens, only stopping to nurse (shocker!) and get some out-of-this-world ice cream. It was getting towards rush hour when we started in on the gardens, so we planned to come back at a later time to see more of them.
