If you are former HSLDA member or a long-time home-schooler, here's a prayer request for you ...
It appears that Chris Klicka is ending his battle with MS. One of his daughters has been posting status updates on Facebook and has linked to a CaringBridge website where his wife and family are posting their own updates.
Please pray for this family. Mr. Klicka has suffered with MS for many, many years, but even through his pain, he was a major advocate for home schooling and fighting for the rights of parents to educate their children at home -- something for which I am so grateful. He is a hero in many homeschoolers' eyes because he has not ceased to defend their religious freedom to educate their children in the manner they believe God is leading them to do.
My older brother, Kevin, was his legal assistant for about 5 years and during my brief time at HSLDA so many years ago, I was able to get to know Mr. Klicka and gain a new level of respect for him and the fight that he's fought these last 25 years.
It's good that he will be able to finally be free from his pain and suffering and get to see his Maker face-to-face, but we, as a homeschooling community, are losing a great man.
Visit his CaringBridge website. And pray for the Klicka family.
