For the Grandmas, Great-Grandmas, Aunts, Great-Aunts, and Cousins who read my blog and want to know this stuff (and anyone else for that matter!) -
I had a baby doctor appointment yesterday. I felt like this was really and truly the first appointment -- Kc didn't go with me and it was a routine appointment -- no sono, no blood work, no freaking out about hearing the heartbeat for the first time -- just a regular baby check-up.
Baby Myers is doing well! Got to hear the heartbeat again (man, will that EVER get old?!?!? I can't imagine that I'll ever tire of hearing that little washing machine going and going and going!). My doctor kept wanting to talk about the massive amounts of rain that we've been getting this past week while she was finding the heartbeat and I just wanted her to be quiet so I could hear my baby's heartbeat. Sheesh, Doc. Quit your gabbing and just let me hear my baby!! :)
I've been worried that here I'm 14 weeks and not really showing yet. All my regular clothes still fit and the only thing that has really changed is my bust. Glory be. But, everything I own still fits and I've been a little concerned.
Well, during my first trimester, I didn't gain a pound. Not one single pound. In fact, I've actually lost 4 lbs! Guess that explains the lack of a true "baby bump". My doctor wasn't concerned at all by this -- she said it was normal and for me to not be worried anymore. I haven't been that sick -- a little nauseous, but mainly just not hungry. Nothing sounds good, and when I do eat, I feel like I get full really quickly. So, I felt better after hearing that from my doctor and can know that I'm still doing all right.
She wants me to get both the flu shot and the H1N1 vaccine when it comes out in October. She also said she wants Kc to get the vaccine as well, since he's a teacher and will be around sick people more than I will. He actually got an email from his school nurse yesterday, saying that they know have several cases of H1N1 at their school and to be extra vigilant in their cleaning of their classrooms and keeping everything sanitized.
The only bummer news was my next appointment, where we'll find out the gender of the baby!!!!!, will happen after I get back from my weekend get-a-way to Indy. Major bummer. I had hoped to know before seeing all the family, but that's ok. Or maybe I'll just call and beg to see the sono technician before my regular scheduled appointment with my doctor.
I like my doctor all lot. She's super laid-back in her approach to all things medical. She's not laid-back in her personality though -- LOTS of energy and enthusiasm for life. I just wonder how she'll be during labor and delivery ... But, I tend to be a worrier, and I'm glad that she's my doctor for that reason - she doesn't make me feel stupid for worrying, but totally relieves my fears and lets me know that it's all going to be ok. I'm grateful for that.

So glad all is going well...hope I get to see you in Oct...even if for a short visit...keep growing Baby Myers!! Love you, Aunt K
Thanks for the update - I just couldn't stop smiling when I read your post - I'm so happy for you and Kc!!!!! :)
Glad things are going well! Hey, it's cool to be pregnant and skinny :) Although I know you're dying to actually look pregnant. It took a long time for me to show with Rachel -- sometimes it's the way it goes.
That sounds like Dr. Heintges! :) So glad to hear things are going well...
Hmmm, not sure whether to shout "no fair" or say "i'm sorry." I couldn't wait to get to four months so people would stop giving me the "you're huge for being in your first trimester" looks and comments! In addition to all the "twins" predictions :^/
It all goes along with how our bodies carry babies. When you get to your third trimester having not shown so fast will be a blessing. One girl I know here is over halfway through her pregnancy and still looks smaller then I did when I was at three months :^/
No matter what, you are still adorable!!!
Hey Megan,
Just had to comment- not to worry about losing weight. I lost about 12 lbs in the first and early 2nd trimester w/ Emerson because I was so sick...and at 6 months old, he's in the 90th percentile in height, weight, and head circumference. Everyone that sees him says "He's huge!" You'll be great!
Keep the updates coming. We want to live this pregnancy with you.
Love you lots.........G Ma S
Isn't hearing the heartbeat the best?!? Avery still talks about going to my appointments for Hayden and hearing her heartbeat. (Well, that and the fact that I would always give her a fruit snack if she was good!) Glad to hear everything is well. When are you going to be here?? Love you and miss you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a friend who has had four children and, for all four pregnancies, didn't start wearing maternity clothes until 18-20 weeks. Crazy!
Can't wait to hear more about baby apple. :) And see you in a few weeks!! Yay!
