2 Note-Worthy Items

I've got two note-worthy items to mention.

Well, maybe they aren't that note-worthy, but in my little world, they are.

1) Is it so wrong to have written on one's calendar the season premiere's of all your favorite shows?

I didn't think so either. Obviously. Or else I wouldn't ask that question.

Because, I'm stoked. STOKED that all my favorite shows come back on this week. It's been a long summer with few exciting shows to watch. Other than "Fat Bachelor" , which I have found quite entertaining and amusing. Kc has even watched episodes with me, although his favorite part is when the ring comes into the screen and lands with a thump over the name of the show. He's so mean.

I've already gotten caught up on who all are the new contestants in "The Biggest Loser" and can't WAIT for "The Office" premiere.

What a great week. Such a great week.

2) My co-worker was buying an American Girl Doll for her daughter's birthday the other day. We sat at her desk during lunch, watching some show on her computer because all our flat screen tvs got stolen a couple of weeks ago (What? I didn't mention that? Yah, well, they did. Long story.) I hadn't looked at the American Girl website or a catalog in years so it was great fun to remember my past while looking over her shoulder. Until I searched for the doll, "Samantha".

And it's been discontinued. SERIOUSLY?!?!?! American Girl company -- what in the WORLD are you doing to the little girls of this day and age?!?!? I was shocked. Horrified. And deeply saddened. When I told my sister (who actually owned that one -- I had Kirsten), she was so moved that she immediately went into mourning by declaring such on the only news-worthy outlet of our time -- Facebook.

Samantha ... discontinued? Wow. It's a tragedy. We figured it was because she was a rich, white girl and therefore not "diverse" enough for today's audience. So sad.

And that, my friends, are my 2 note-worthy items.

Yay for The Office! Other than football, it is my one show these days. :)

Yes, I couldn't believe they were discontinuing Samantha. It looks like they regularly discontinue dolls and items these days (because they introduce so many new ones). I bet they have to bring her back (for a limited time only) sometime in the future.

I saw S's facebook and then looked online to see what was up. Just based on what Melissa reads from American Girl, I know it's changed A LOT since we were little. You're right, it's become a lot more PC. I do like the new look-alike dolls though.

Can't wait to see you in a few weeks!! If only Kc could come too!

Discontinued? You don't just discontinue one of your original dolls!!! Like you, I had Kirsten, but I always liked Samantha. And her friend Nellie. Gah.

It's perfectly normal behavior to mark your calendar for the season premieres of your favorite shows. And you and I are the epitome of normal. Obviously.

We've been watching the end of last season of The Office in anticipation of Thursday. Can't wait! Then Castle on Monday! I'm most excited about those two.

And on a side note...last Oct Uncle Mike and I were in Chicago for a wedding. We had a few hours to kill the next day and wondered into the American Girl Store. No economic crisis there. Hoards of little girls and their Moms buying tons of American Girl stuff. Long lines to get your doll's hair styled for $25!

Emily loved her American Girl doll, however we DID NOT have her hair professionally styled :-)

Hi! I had to visit based on your comment on Big Mama's blog. Pregger clothes: Don't spend alot. You only wear them for about 6 months - wait! make that 9 months counting the 3 months AFTER the baby make his/her exit. Anyhoo... My favorite places were Old Navy and Motherhood. They were the only ones that had real life sizing too. Congratulations! I wish I had kept some of my maternity clothes to send you but after Baby #4 I had had enough of them and handed them out to anyone that was even considering getting pregnant! ; )
