Easter 2012

Easter seemed like it came so quickly this year! Was it just me that felt that way? It might have something to do with the fact that I haven't slept for a full night in over 14 weeks now. G - get with the program! Anyhow, I move on.

I had lots of great intentions of decorating and really celebrating Easter with Bennett this year. But, seriously, going on so little sleep has caused most of my good intentions to go by the wayside.

The week of Easter, I did finally blow out some eggs so Bennett and I could dye them together. Since I happened to choose the day of all the tornadoes here in North Dallas to do them, I was too frazzled to remember to take any pictures. My nerves were already shot and then trying to help B dye his eggs without a) cracking them and then b) not getting dye everywhere, the picture taking was non-existent.

We did attend our MOPS egg hunt on a Friday morning. Unfortunately, it was one of those times where it took more effort to have The Fun than what The Fun was actually had. :) At least we went and I'm proud of myself for that little fact.

My sweet boys have matching shirts! Who says that boys can't match?!? :) Grant really was struggling with the whole 'sitting up' part of the deal.
I can't tell if G is eyeing the iPod or the Edward engine ...
This was B's first egg hunt -- poor kid, he was so clueless! It was one of those, bring a dozen eggs and hopefully you'll have a dozen in your basket when you leave. Right. My kid was too concerned about opening the eggs as he found them, and then wanting to eat whatever was in said egg. Many tears ensued when he realized you weren't allowed to eat all the "chockit" at once nor could you have the "fishy kackers" when they fell on the ground! It's tough being 2.
"Mommy. Hand messy." Yep, it sure is. That's what happens when you "holdit".
It was threatening to downpour on us the whole time we were there. After I sat by myself, while nursing my baby, and trying to get B to play on the playground by himself, all while watching the skies to open up, I decided enough of The Fun was had and we left. It's rough being a baby. Your Fun is sitting in your carseat. Boo! :)

Easter Sunday we had planned on hosting, but the week of Easter, Sarah offered to host instead, and I jumped at the chance to not have to clean my house. :) I brought the frittata, hashbrowns, parfaits, and the egg hunt. Everyone else did the rest. Just as we were sitting down to eat, a huge thunderstorm rolled through, causing the lights to go out and forcing the egg hunt to be indoors. The lights did go back on after 5 minutes or so (just enough time to start lighting candles).

Myers men in blue and yellow :)
All children should receive a chocolate bunny in their baskets in my opinion!

Attempt #1 to get a sweet Easter picture of the boys in the coordinating outfits.
Attempt #2 - less tears but still no smiles
Attempt #3 - Finally! One where no one is crying! Too bad you can't get a 2 year old and 3 month old to look right at the camera!
Grant really enjoyed the egg hunt. Next year, buddy.
Bennett searches for eggs ... with one sock on and one sock off ...
My little "asian"
Clearly I'm thrilled with Bennett's stash -- hey, it pays to be the one who fills the eggs! :)

And that was Easter. It seems like every year I have some excuse for not celebrating in the way I really envisioned it happening. Oh well. I guess I could write it off as being a mom of "littles" and life doesn't always go the way you think it should in your head. :)

The boys look beautiful! Love their outfits, and the colors - like little egg colors. :) Things do get better Megan, believe me. :) Hugs - Aunt Bev
