2 months

My sweet, little Grant -

Hey buddy! This is your first of hopefully many "monthly" updates from your momma! I love you, sweet boy, and I'm glad to be sharing these memories with you.

You are officially 9.5 weeks old! I wasn't able to write this on your actual 2 month date because we were out of town and I'm sad to say I was too busy to get it down early and/or on time. But, here I am, just a bit late but I'm sure you won't mind.

You are growing like a weed - I'm thrilled for you! I'll take you at the end of this week for your doctor's visit, but according to the Mii on Daddy's Wii, you are well over 12 pounds! Nice work, son! I moved you out of newborn clothing and into 0-3 months at about 6 weeks of age. And I'm thinking it won't be long until you move into the next size of clothes! ***(At your visit you weighed in at 12.14 lbs and were 22 1/2" long! Your weight almost put you in the 70th percentile! Go little Grant!!)***

We are still getting up a lot during the night. Occasionally, you'll sleep for a 5 hour stretch, but you've never gone longer than that and it's not the norm. Some nights, it's like clockwork - every 3 hours and you are fussing to be fed. You are still sleeping in the pack 'n play in Mommy and Daddy's room. Unfortunately, you'll be in the makeshift bed for a while, but hopefully you can start sleeping in the guest room in the near future.

The first 6'ish weeks of your little life were pretty rough on everyone. You cried. A lot. And loudly. I was concerned you had some acid reflux and got some tummy medicine from the pediatrician. He thought you were just going to be a fussy, colicky baby and I think we were/are both right. You are settling down with the amount of crying and the length of your sadness, but you are quick to let us know when you are VERY sad! :) We tease that you can go from 0-60 in .01 seconds! It was so hard on me to have you be so upset and there really wasn't anything I could do to settle you down. Your daddy actually had the best luck in the beginning - he was more patient than me and stronger in keeping you still and getting you very tight in your swaddle blanket. You've spent more time in your bouncy seat than out of it, that's for sure.

Grant, you've been busy these past 9 weeks. You've already had your first cold - I'm thinking your big brother passed his nasty cough on to you. Thankfully you seem to be past it, but it broke my heart to see you coughing so hard - it would shake your entire body! I was afraid the cough would keep you from nursing well, but that hasn't seemed to be the case.

We just got back from spending a week with the Indianapolis side of the family. It was wonderful to introduce you to so many aunts and uncles and cousins and grandparents. You are well loved, my little man.

Everyone comments on how pretty of a baby you are. I agree! You have BEAUTIFUL eyelashes - they curl up way onto your eyelid and are a great color. It appears that you will be a redhead, but there are moments when your hair looks blonde/brown. Once again, all people think it's beautiful. My boy - you are a heart-breaker already! I still can't get over the fact that I'm the one that got the redhead, not Aunt Shannon!

God has blessed you with a wonderful smile! You smile at me constantly. When you see me, you smile. And it's a HUGE smile that lights up my day. You coo and goo and make precious baby sounds. We haven't gotten a laugh out of you yet, but we are so close! I love how much you smile. It helps us all when you are having a fussy day. You've been smiling for a long time - I think you were about 3 weeks old when you started.

Grant Alfred - I love you so much. I wondered what it would be like to love another child and I'm beginning to see what everyone told me - it just happens - you fall in love with your next baby just as much as your first. I love you and Bennett the same and I'm so grateful that God gave you to me to parent.

Cooing and Gooing on your 2nd month birthday!

Your big brother asks to hold "it" for the first time - 2/4/12

We love our Aunt Erin! She babysat you so Daddy and I could have a Valentine's date night.

At least he said "hold it" instead of "I want to pet it" like Brandon did when Ryan was born! They are sooo cute!
