It's about the BOYS!!

Today, I stumbled across some blogs that are devoting the entire month of February to BOYS!! Accurately so, they say that boys tend to get forgotten in the world of blogging and making crafts. Although I'm not currently making crafts for anyone, I do see the trend of everything being about girls. It's easy to be creative when it comes to making something cutesy for a little girl. But a boy ....????

I'll be perfectly honest here. It has been a bit of a shock to my system that I'm going to be having a baby boy. And that baby boy will be arriving in the very near future!

My whole life I've always said that I wanted boys. Having grown up with more brothers than sisters, having more boy cousins than girl cousins, babysitting more boys, hanging out with my older brother and thus inheriting all his boy friends, I feel like I've been surrounded by boys. Sure, I had my girlfriends and played pretend until I was 12 and loved being a girl, but I liked being around boys! Yet in the recent years, it seems that a good number of all my friends have been having girls and with all my little nieces and all my cousin's babies (save for one sweet little boy) have been girls! My brain has begun wiring itself for girls ... and now I'm finding it hard to imagine having a son in my life. A little boy. A rambunctious little fellow. One that likes trucks rather than dolls. Would rather jump off a chair than sit quietly reading a book with me. Blue instead of pink. Spiky hair instead of piggy-tails. Playing pretend as pirates and cowboys rather than Laura Ingalls Wilder or a mommy.

I want my son to be a manly-man. I want him to embrace his boyishness. I want him to be a boy.

It's my outlook that has to adjust. It's me that has to remember that he's going to be a boy and will like little boy things. And will want to wrestle and be active and will laugh at bodily functions that I think are disgusting. But, he will be a boy and I'm glad for that.

So, when I read that these women were devoting this month to little boys, I decided to link to their blogs, simply so I can go there from time to time this month and gear my heart up for welcoming this little man into my life in just 6 short weeks!

These are the buttons to their blogs and should link you to their sites. I don't know anything about them other than finding them on another blog that I follow. But, it's ok. Cuz it's all about the boys!!!

My little girl can play with your little boy. So far she doesn't like dolls, likes jumping and doesn't like to sit still on my lap and snuggle. She's all go go go! Knowing my sweet hubby, she might end up in the garage working on trucks and machines with her daddy:)

I remember feeling the same way before Christian was born! Don't worry - I'm sure your little guy will be boy through and through. It's been amazing to me to watch the differences in Christian and Abbie - they are wired so differently. No one had to teach Christian to play with cars, laugh at burps, wrestle, and pretend to growl - he's just a boy. No one had to teach Abbie to play with dolls, never tire of looking in mirrors, try to put bows in her hair, and scramble after anything sparkly - she's just a girl. God wires boys and girls so differently and as a mommy I think it's a blast to watch those differences shine through. :)

Well, as the momma of three boys, I think it's super fun! And though we don't make hairbows and cute dresses, they have come a long way in making it fun to dress boys and make fun activities! But mostly, my boys are just boys, they love cars & trucks, rocking out with their musical instruments, wearing capes, football tackling each other, and making noise.

I have one who always wants to dress in athletic wear (sweats, t-shirts etc.), one who would probably choose jeans and a nicer shirt every day, and one that doesn't care....yet. We have lots of fun together. Yes, boys are awesome - I wouldn't trade being the mom of boys for the world!
