Really?!?

At times, I just get so incredibly frustrated by the news. It makes me want to scream and moan ... loudly.

I want to shake people silly and look them squarely in the face and say, "Really?!?! Really????". Even though SNL's political leanings aren't toward my own, I do appreciate their occasional weekend news segment entitled, "Really?!? with Seth and Amy". I understand their desire to force people to take a closer look at their actions and/or take a step back and think about how dumb they've just been.

Really, people. Really.

For instance, a DFW school has decided to back off their previous decision of taking the word "Christmas" entirely out of their December program.

They went so far as to make a 6th-grader re-write the words to the song, "I'll Be Home for Christmas" because, alas, it has the words "Christmas" in the title. They claimed that their school was incredibly diversified and they needed to be sensitive to all groups of people who attend their school. They wanted him to use the word "Winter" in place of "Christmas".

Because that makes a lot of sense ... I'll be Home for Winter ...

Really?!? Really???

It's not even a religious song!! There's not a single word about Christ, Jesus, the Savior, holy babe, or anything remotely close to that.

The song was written in 1943 ... during WWII ... to bring encouragement to the troops who were overseas and missing their families during the Christmas holidays ...

Really. Sometimes people just kill me in their attempts to be "culturally sensitive" or whatever else they call it.

Really.
