I've always heard pregnant women (or moms for that matter) talk about how tired they are/were during their first months of pregnancy.
I pictured that "tiredness" being a falling asleep every time you sat down or laid down or whatever. To me, being tired was equated with being sleepy.
For me, this isn't the case. Tiredness = the feelings I had when I had mono.
Fatigue. Weariness. Feeling like my limbs weigh 10 gazillion pounds. Zero energy.
I sit at my desk at work and when the phone rings, it takes every ounce of strength in my arms to reach out and answer the phone. Sometimes, I have to lay down after having a shower because the act of taking a shower wore me out.
Seriously. It's like I have mono again.
My poor husband has been a trooper in every since of the word -- he's babied me, let me rest when I get home from work, doesn't pester me to be productive or work hard to unpack that blasted last box that is still sitting in our living room -- he just lets me be. But, I know him well enough to know that he's ready for some real, live meals again. I think he's done with scrambled eggs, frozen burritos, grilled cheese, and soup in a can. Me too. If only I had the energy to go grocery shopping ...
Moms with little ones are now my new super heroes. How in the world do they do it? I just have a husband, a full-time job, and a house to take care of ... and I'm barely surviving. Sheesh. Amazing women.
So, I think I'll drum up some energy and go do some much needed filing. I wonder if the attorneys would work for me -- bring me all the papers and filing folders so I don't have to get out of my chair??? Yah, I didn't think so either. :)

I think a week long cruise should
do the trick---meals served in your
stateroom, read a book, watch TV.

oh man! I'm so sorry. Maybe you'll pick up in a few weeks! We ate so many frozen pizzas when I was pregnant with James. Ugh!
I'm soooo happy for you! Congratulations! The second trimester is so much better, you have so much more energy. Hang in there. However, I'm finding nursing and middle of the night feedings bring back that zero-energy feeling. But I wouldn't change a thing. My little John is a dream.
The first three months are rough, but then you'll feel baby move and your energy will come back - you're almost there! :)
My total sympathies.... I can relate. The bed calls to me and I want to just be horizontal with a book. Prenatals make a serious difference for me. (This is the first pregnancy I've found anything I could tolerate...liquid! YAY!) But yes, welcome to tired.
You make me laugh. You will feel better soon. Come home and look at the leaves....let's go to Brown County. This will make you all relaxed and rested! Love you. Aunt B.
So totally know what you mean - I also had mono (or glandular fever as its known in the UK) and the tiredness is so very similar! But don't worry, it does get better, the extreme tiredness goes, but then the joys of aches and pains arrive. But the good news is, it all disappears the moment your baby is born. Incredible!
Hope your energy picks up soon. I know how it is, feeling like you don't do anything but work, eat, and sleep! Less than two weeks and you'll be in the second trimester, right? I predict you'll see big changes just around the corner. :)
Love you!
