Break started out pretty icky and ended fairly good, so I guess that's a plus. Start low, end high.... I dunno. But the weekend was much needed in many respects. Here it is in a nutshell.
Wed night/Early Thurs morn:
Didn't get to leave OH until midnight because of turning the store over to Christmas. But, midnight was better than 2am, I will have to admit. Drove home in nasty rain and somewhat of a snow flurry (the first snow of the season I might add). Got home at 2:30am [ugh] and fell into bed.
Thursday:
Had the quietest Thanksgiving EVER!! G'ma Spiehler was in the hospital, Selvia's were in one of the Carolina's, and G'pa left soon after the meal to be with G'ma. It was basically a day spent with the Hacker's and Reichart's. Watched lots of IN sports -- Colts slaughter the Lions and the Pacers beat the Timberwolves. Go us. Tried to help Wade beat Aaron in a game of Scrabble, but man, Aaron is way too smart. Ended the evening with a hilarious movie called "Elf" (at Aaron's recommendation). But overall, it was a good day.
Friday:
Slept in. Nice. Goofed off with Shan at the piano for a while. We all went to go see "National Treasure" -- absolutely loved it!!! It was fabulous. Seriously. Spent the remainder of the evening at Andrew and Alaina's with the old "gang". We are so old. We sat around for the first couple of hours and played the "how many years has it been since you've seen so-and-so" game. It was pitiful because for some of our highschool friends, it had been years. Sadness. Micah and Brad announced that they are expecting -- they will be the first to bring small children into the mix. Thought marriage changed our group, but this most definitely will. Around 11pm we decided to pull out the traditional game of Trivial Pursuit. The girls were at a 4 piece deficit and ended up beating the boys, who when we began making our comeback, were already finished and just trying to land on the center square. Glorious. Simply glorious. Can't wait for our annual game next year when we get to defend our title!!! Left there at 3am - sigh. But, Jon and Jason Mayes are still just as funny as they were when we all were in the "Tuesday class". That was the revelation of the evening.
Saturday:
Got up and went to G'ma's, with Emily, to put up their tree for them. Don't think we put enough lights on for Grandpa's liking, but we just aren't talented enough to make it all shimmery and shiny. Had a nice time with Em ... and we got pizza out of the deal too. :) Took a nice long nap. All 5 of us went back to the movie theatre, this time to watch "The Incredibles". In my entire life, I've never gone to see movies two days in a row. Funny. Hung out with Mom and Dad for the rest of the evening.
Sunday:
Church ... lunch out with the Glasheen's cuz Jimmy can get his way :) .... nap ... evening church ... doing my Bible study in front of the fireplace ... talking to Mom. Sums up that day very nicely.
Monday:
Home the entire day by myself. No one called. Nothing. Worked on my stupid earth science class all day long -- oh when will it ever end!!! Had dinner at Ruth and Chris Mann's house. Their kids are way too adorable. For such small ones, they have an enormous vocabulary -- all of them do!! It's amazing. But, got to sit with Ruth and Chris for 3 hours or so and just talk to them about life and their lives. Very encouraging. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to get counsel from them. My life doesn't seem so awful at the present time.
Tuesday: (yes, break is still continuing .... :) )
Got up and got ready to leave, only to find out that my only class for the day had been cancelled. Drove back to Cedarville, but really didn't want to. Oh well.
And that's that. I'm quite thankful for the break. It was much needed and appreciated. It was good to have the chance to visit with old friends and realize that old friendships are precious because of the fact that they are old -- there's not much explaining that goes on -- you all just know each other and how the other person thinks about things. It's great. And, I love my family. They are wonderful. :)

Thanks for the newsy update! I really enjoy reading the details. :) Glad you had a great break. We are looking foward to seeing National Treasure and The Incredibles sometime soon too. We tend to be really slow when it comes to seeing movies. We STILL haven't seen The Notebook and I've been DYING to see it! Hmmmmmm. Anyways, can't wait to see you at Christmas! --Amy
Did the fact that we were missing have anything to do with it being a "quiet" Thanksgiving? I missed my family. Love, Aunt B.
Umm ... it might be that fact. But that doesn't mean that being quiet is good ... it was just quiet. :) We missed you all though.
Nah, I'm SURE it was Grandma's absence that made it so quiet. ;)
Well... with both Megan and myself in the same house, it couldn't have been THAT quiet :) We missed the rest of you though!
Hey Megan! I did a google search for my blogspot and came across yours! Thanks for thinking I am funny and that Thanksgiving was just like...well we will say a few years ago!:-)-JDM
