Last Few Days

1. Old friends are the best. (And by old I don't mean age but rather the passing of time of being friends). It's just great getting together with people that you have a long history with them ... especially living this far away from home.

2. Winter in Texas is out of control. Seriously. The tiniest bit of "weather" happens and everyone freaks out like it was the Blizzard of '78. School gets delayed and then canceled. People drive dangerously slow because they are afraid of ... weather? We, at the office, stand around and watch 2 accidents happen right outside our window -- cars flipping over, tires spinning, ambulances racing, tires screeching -- craziness. And I get to work in record time because of driving at a normal, safe speed for winter weather, therefore passing all those slow, crazy Texas drivers.

3. Handel's Messiah. Amazing. Moving. Powerful. Majestic. Beautiful.

And why on earth was I the only one in the sanctuary with tears in my eyes? People. This is good stuff!
"Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power ...."
"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!"
"Worthy is the Lamb who was slain ... "
"Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns."
"Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory!"

Boy do I wish I could have heard Messiah this year. It's like one long, wonderful quiet time since the words are straight from SCripture. Since I couldn't hear it live, I've been listening to it on CD -- next best to nothing at all. :) Very moving, I agree!

Have a safe trip up!

That is a GREAT picture of you and Jen! Hope the concert was great. Your tears over Messiah were probably more worthwhile than my tears over The Biggest Loser. Which I did shed. :)
