What Really Happened

So, things didn't really go as according to plan from my last post.

You see. I'd been having some back and stomach pain for about a week. It started on July 4, while we were in Indy visiting my family. It was intense. It was very painful. And then it went away after about 3 days. I couldn't figure out how it started. I thought maybe it was sleeping in a new bed. Or possibly it was carrying so many babies around. Or sitting in the car. Or that I was just the biggest wimp in the world. But nevertheless, I was glad the pain was gone.

We got back to Texas last Wednesday night and then decided on Thursday that we should move to another apartment (see previous post). Friday I worked at the flower shop and when I came home, my back started hurting again. I ruled it off as just having carried heavy groceries (you know me, the "one-trip-queen") up our stairs. But, the pain wouldn't go away and then the intense stomach pains started. Kc wanted to go to the emergency room and/or call my mom. I refused both -- what could the people in the ER do for back pain and my mom would just worry and fret being so far away from the situation.

The pain didn't lessen so finally, my husband (and mom, who had been called at this point) won and we left for the ER about 10pm. By midnight, we were seen by a doctor who thought it was gall stones and ordered an X-ray and an ultrasound. And by 3:30am, I was admitted to the hospital to have my gallbladder removed the following morning.

Ugh.

Kc stayed the remainder of the night with me in my hospital room and then left the next morning to get cleaned up, as I was scheduled for surgery about 3pm. 30 minutes after he left, the nurse came in to say that the operating room was empty and that they'd take me in an hour. I called Kace to come right back and then I was off to surgery. I've never been hospitalized before or had surgery, so this was all new and a little surreal. The laproscopic surgery was successful and now I'm minus one organ. I stayed for another night and then was released Sunday evening.

We both recooped on Monday and then started moving things into our new apartment on Tuesday, officially moving on Wednesday. Many thanks to our Dallas friends who stepped up and helped us get our stuff moved 100ft or so.

So, that's what really happened. I'm doing fine as far as surgery goes. But, no one told me that having an IV would hurt more than surgery! Seriously. My arm hurts like the dickens from having that stupid IV. I can barely fully extend it without wincing in pain. I wish it was really black and blue and yellow and green from bruising so I wouldn't feel so silly for it hurting so badly. :)

I'll post pics of the new place once we get things put back in their rightful homes.

So glad you're recovering well and the moving is behind you! Okay, not all the putting-away, but at least the hard part. :)

Glad to hear you are getting back to normal, a bit. What an ordeal! I'm glad it's mostly over.

Poor thing. Hope you're feeling okay. I can't imagine having surgery and then MOVING two days later. I'm impressed.

Hey Megan! This is Emily (Morton) Boller from Cedarville. Just wanted to say congratulations on being married a year (almost!). I got married August 11, 2007 - just one week after you :-) My birthday is August 4th, so I'm sure I'll always remember your anniversary. Anyway, just wanted to say congratulations since we'll be celebrating our one year anniversaries at almost the same time!

Lisa and are moving into an apartment in one week. Exciting. Scary. You know how we feel because you were there a year ago.
