Things are going pretty well down here. It's currently 99 degrees outside and it's blowing hot wind. I'd forgotten how hot is hot wind. Nothing refreshing about it at all. Absolutely nothing. However, the sun is shining, making the world seem cheery and bright from my nice air-conditioned apartment.
I feel like a wife right now. We have a small cricket problem in our apartment and Kc thought it had been taken care of. Yet, as we lay in bed last night, watching a movie from my laptop, we both squealed as we heard a scuffling coming from the floor board. Yup. There was a cricket. Kc caught it in my only piece of tupperware and told me it was MY job to go to the leasing office in the morning and inform them that the problem still exists. I did not want to go and hold that thing, but being the good wife that I am, I've trudged over there twice today. The nice lady in the office told me that they'd send someone over this afternoon. Great! It's kind of gross, actually. There are dead carcasses all over our apartment from the previous killing spree. I pulled back clothes that had already been hanging in the closet and jumped when I saw 3 dead bodies on the ground. I'm totally waiting for Kc to get home so he can remove them. :)
I've spent most of the morning doing wifey type of things. I researched how to get our car inspected, plated, and us licensed. It sounds like it's going to be quite the process. I'm hoping that we can get the inspection done this afternoon. Our date is up in 1 week to get a new license on it or else ... I dunno what happens. Cedarville has been called to say that 2 of it's alumni have gotten married and moved to a different address. I'm ready to send of the paperwork to get a certified marriage license so I can get my name changed. You know. Wifey things.
The unpacking is going quite well I'm happy to report. The kitchen is coming along quite nicely. All we need now is groceries! I tried sorting our clothes this morning and organizing things like that. We don't have any pictures up or books unpacked or home-looking things out yet. For one thing, we have no place to put them. Bookshelves are on the list to purchase and then we can unpack books. I think Kc and I have 16 boxes together of just books. Sheesh. Since we have no furniture in our living room, I can't decorate at all! I'm looking forward to that but know it'll come in time.
Other than that, married life is great! Today is the first time that Kc and I have been apart for more than a few minutes since we got married 9 days ago. Pretty cool if you ask me. He said something to that effect the other day and I hadn't even realized that we'd spent days and days together. It already feels completely natural to live with him and have a life with him. Marriage is cool in that you get to live with your best friend. I can't think of anything better than that. :)
Here are some pics from our honeymoon. I thought I had pictures on my camera of our apartment and unpacking it, but I guess they are on Kc's camera. I'll have to have him download them later on.
Making pancakes in the cottage up on Lake Michigan. Kc's grandparents let us stay there for free as part of our wedding present! Woo hoo!
