In case you didn't have my old xanga address or were completely out of the loop, I've been brought home 2 months early in order to recover from a nasty case of mono. I started feeling bad on April 14 ... and here I am. At least I'm no longer running a fever. I had one for 3 weeks straight. Yah, you heard right. 3 weeks. I contracted a staff infection in my throat. Nasty stuff, let me tell you what. And now, I'm back, feeling better than I did while I was in China, but still not 100 percent. I'm very tired and get worn out very quickly. I'm hoping that I'm on the mend, especially because of this certain event that will be taking place in just 69 days. [I'm not counting down or anything :)]
That's basically it. It's been an adjustment to be back without a lot of warning that it was coming. I thought I'd be moving home at the first of July, not the first of May. I wasn't really able to say goodbye to any of my students which has been very difficult, not just for me but also for them. The first 10 days I was home, my inbox was flooded with messages from them, wondering what had happened and was my disease fatal. No, sweet things, I just have mono. I'm not dying. However, I wouldn't be seeing them again. It was rather shocking for everyone involved. Yet, I know that God [wow. It's strange to be able to write that name on a public venue ...] has been working through this situation. Many of the teachers have jumped on this to explain how short life really is and used it as a springboard for other conversations. That's more than I could've ever wanted. I just ask that it continues.
Since coming home, I've basically been doing nothing. I'm starting to get my life organized and ready to pack up and move to Texas after the wedding. I haven't been home for long periods of time in years, so it's good to go through things, discarding old papers and letters, clothes, cd's and books, and stuff like that. A pre-wedding purge you might say. I've gotten to spend a good bit of time with my adorable 22-month old niece. I've also been able to read like I haven't done since I was in junior high. 3 weeks home and 4 books accomplished. Not bad, I'd say. I'm also starting to work more on wedding plans. Fun, fun. :)
So, I just wanted to say I'm back from the other land.

Me and some of my team, right before I left for the airport. I miss you guys!!

It was so good to see you at church this morning. Keep on resting and recovering.
Congrats on your upcoming marriage! I've kept up on you through Amy a little--I'm so glad you had the opportunity to live in China. What an adventure! -rlr
