Not so gentle reminder

We were racing out the door this morning to make it to a playdate on time. Mommy was up with Madeline a lot during the night so I didn't totally have my A-Game on. 

We stopped for gas a couple of blocks from the house and as I was getting back in the van to speed away, Bennett asks me, "Mom? Were we going to wear shoes today????" 

Well yes, son. We were. That had been the plan. Here, let me just turn back around and head back home for the missing shoes. 

He then says to me, "Mom, you should ask yourself before we leave, 'Do I have everything that we need?'". 

Gee. Thanks for the reminder, 4 year old.
