Bennett story

Mornings with Bennett typically go like this: he wakes and cries. Hard. Kc is usually already up (or at least in the shower) and getting ready for work. He gets Bennett his morning milk, changes his diaper and then usually brings him in to me, still lazying around in bed, and Bennett will lay there next to me and drink his milk while Kc finishes eating his breakfast.

This morning was no exception. Or so I thought.

Since school hasn't officially started yet and Kc is having his inservice week, he's been heading to work much later than normal. When Bennett woke, I heard him get Bennett and then bring him in to our room, milk in hand, to lay with me.

Once Bennett started getting restless, after finishing his milk, I wasn't ready to face the day yet, so I tried to shoo Bennett out of the room for a bit.

I told him to "go find Daddy. Bennett, go find your daddy", thinking that Kc was in the kitchen eating his breakfast.

A few minutes later, with my eyes still closed of course, I could hear Bennett coming back into our room and whining up a storm! I assumed he was trying to get up on the bed and not wanting to put forth the effort to actually climb up and just wanted me to lift him up. The whining was getting louder and more annoying to me, so I finally opened my eyes and turned to him to see what was wrong.

He was standing next to the bed, holding a publication from Kc's school - one that has Kc's picture in it.

Lately, a favorite activity of his is to take the magazine and bring it to one of us, saying "Dada", "Daddy". He wants us to find the page where his daddy's picture is located and then point to Kc's face.

I guess when I told him to go find his daddy this morning, and lo and behold, Kc had already left for work (unknown to me!), Bennett decided to do the next best thing and bring me his daddy's picture instead!

Precious, precious little boy!!
