My husband is absolutely fabulous. He really is the best thing in the world! And I'm not kidding. :)
He's been telling me that I have a surprise coming in a couple of weeks. I had no idea what it was and thought that it was pretty nifty of him to keep a secret from me for this extended period of time. I was pretty excited, just anticipating this "surprise".
Yesterday, he told me that he'd be in charge of dinner, meaning he'd take me out to a place so I wouldn't have to cook. He was pretty specific about what time he wanted to leave, which I thought was strange, it being a Friday night and not usually something that has to be regulated so strictly. We had dinner at a great Mexican restaurant and then he acted all like, "what should we do now??". I suggested a few options, but he kept driving and I was very confused at that point.
I finally guessed where we were going when we pulled up near the Texas State Fairgrounds and he asked a guy where to park for the Music Hall (which was right in front of us with a huge banner reading, "THE LION KING").
Yup. He got amazing tickets to see the Broadway musical of "The Lion King".
It was spectacular. I've studied a little bit in college about the designer and other aspects of this show and the word you learn very quickly in theatre is the word "spectacle". This show was a spectacle and I loved it. The costumes were out of this world. The puppets were phenomenal. I especially loved the giraffes and Zaza, the bird, was exceptional. The opening scene was breathtaking. Tears quickly started forming in my eyes and I had to blink them back for fear of looking, I dunno, crazy or something. But it was beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.
It was a fabulous evening. I loved the show. It was well worth all the $$ we spent for it.
I do have the best husband in the world who knows how to make his little wife a very happy girl. :)
